Welcome to Alan Darmody Photography.

The adpblog has taken over. Now, this is the only place where you'll find the the most current images from ADP sessions and updates with what's new with Alan Darmody Photography. We hope you will stay in touch and get involved with ADP and leave comments and subscribe to the blog.

Now, a few random bits about me to get you started. My wife, Alysa, and I live in Lawrenceville, GA (NE Atlanta), which is pretty much out in the country compared to Atlanta. We try to get down to the "city" every once in a while for a concert or a nice dinner. I love my wife, the Dallas Cowboys, and Apple Computer, in that order. My favorite comedians are Brian Regan and Jerry Seinfeld, and I dont' know what order they're in. I'm a huge Cowboys fan and, of course, I had to marry a Californian 49er fan. There's plenty of good natured trash talk in our house during NFL season. My life is all about photography. I love being a photographer and capturing beautiful moments in life.

Thanks for stopping by - come back often and leave comments when you visit! We LOVE comments!

andrea and donnie are married

June 30, 2009 | Category: Weddings | View 1 Comment

On June 21, 2009 Andrea and Donnie were married in Turlock, CA (Andrea’s hometown). We’ve been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. Donnie is Alysa’s best friend from Armona Union Academy in Hanford, CA. They basically grew up together and their families are very close. This wedding wasn’t just an ordinary wedding, it was a reunion and it was an honor to be a part of it both personally and professionally. Thank you Andrea and Donnie for having us there as your photographers and your friends! Here are a few of our favorites from the wedding day.

Andrea’s brother wasn’t able to make the cross-country trip due to his work schedule at the hospital. However, he was able to tune-in to the wedding via Skype and watch the ceremony and be part of the reception. Andrea was able to speak with him through the camera just before he had to sign off.

nick, sarah, luke and eli

While in Clearlake, CA last week, we were able to fit in a family session with Alysa’s cousins at the Anderson Marsh State Historic Park. The boys were so fun to play with and capture them just being themselves. Luke ran around looking for lizards and threw rocks into the open field next to the park, while Eli just giggled and had a good time making us all laugh. We were able to get them all to hold still together a few times but did our best to just capture the whole family’s individual and collective personalities. We had a great time spending time with our family who we rarely get to see. We love you guys! Thanks for doing this session with us!

This picture on the left is even funnier when you realize what a family expression that is! Alysa has pictures of herself making that same face at this age!

Luke is quite the visionary. He picked out textures that he knew we would want to photograph in rocks and tree trunks and actually created this pose for us himself! He even told everyone where to stand. Thanks Luke! Maybe you should be a photographer someday!

Family Care Partners

June 25, 2009 | Category: Portraits | Please Leave a Comment

We were in Clearlake, CA last week to visit Alysa’s parents a few days before Andrea and Donnie’s wedding in Turlock, CA (blog to come soon). While we were there we did a session for a newspaper ad with Alysa’s dad, Dr. Michael Shepherd for his family practice, Family Care Partners. Dr. Shepherd delivers a lot of babies in Clearlake and quickly becomes famous wherever he has his practice for his love of and relationship-building with mothers and their babies. About a year and half ago we did a session with a newborn, so it was about time to continue the series with a toddler. The toddler is Eli, who is the son of Alysa’s cousin. Here’s just a couple good ones that may appear in print!

holli and todd are engaged!

June 4, 2009 | Category: Engagements, Portraits | View 2 Comments

We really enjoy spending time with Todd and Holli. They are such great people and wonderful friends. Two weeks earlier they came down to our house in Lawrenceville for their engagement session but we got rained out. So, we rescheduled and met downtown Chattanooga and were blessed with wonderful weather. We are really excited for their wedding in September! Holli has so much style and design talent - their wedding is going to be gorgeous. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. We are so happy that you found each other!
